Connecticut

Connecticut was founded in 1636 by Thomas Hooker. Connecticut was a colony that was set up and planned for people that did not want to live in Massachusetts. Some people thought that the Government in Massachusetts had too much power, so people started to make other colonies like Connecticut. In the Connecticut colony, the religion was Protestant, just like England. Some important documents included the Fundamental Orders and the Charter of Connecticut. The government in Connecticut allowed only male property owners to vote and limited the government's power. The economy here consisted of farming, agriculture, and fishing. Some important people were Thomas Hooker (founder of Connecticut), and John Hayes. Life in this colony was something you really had to depend on your family to survive. The colony was divided roughly into two sections by the Connecticut River. There are few mountains and plentiful in flat land. The target residents were English farmers and fishers. Since Connecticut was founded because the Massachusetts government had too much power, the government of Connecticut will give more power to the people. Again since the religion is  mostly Protestant one who wants to move to this colony must be accepting of Protestant views or be Protestant themselves. The Fundamental Orders of Connecticut was one of the first Constitutions written in the New World. Because of the moderate range of land features in Connecticut the economy also ranged from farming to fishing.
